Discovery center

Description of Project

In collaboration with Studio Zwede and Strawberry Mansion CDC, our team gathered community input in a seven month engagement process, asking residents how they’d like to spend time at the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood reservoir. 

A big portion of our engagement included inviting community members to write letters and notes to their ancestors with the majority of the participants having lived in the neighborhood for generations. We wrote these notes and held a lantern ceremony, encouraging participants to establish a relationship with the reservoir.

This engagement and feedback informed the design at the Discovery Center, ensuring the reservoir at the Discovery Center is home to wildlife and an accessible and inviting space to Strawberry Mansion residents.
